Fundraising
At the opening of the St Pius X teaching wing in 1961, Prime Minister Sir Robert Menzies spoke of 鈥... the courage, wisdom and foresight of those who had begun St Joseph鈥檚 ... they were people who did things in a big way鈥.
St Joseph鈥檚 College was founded on the vision of St Marcellin Champagnat and each generation has developed and sustained it with generous gifts and donations to provide facilities, scholarships and educational programs. Indeed, the construction of our iconic main stone building would not have been possible without significant philanthropic support from our earliest benefactors. Nothing has changed. The College鈥檚 philanthropic tradition and culture remain crucial for generations to come.
This culture of philanthropy is embedded in 桃子直播 life, with each generation contributing to the growth, development and sustainability of the College. Intergenerational responsibility acknowledges that what we have today is the legacy of those who have gone before us, and it is therefore our generation鈥檚 responsibility to do the same for those who come after us.
To ensure a strong and sustainable future, an organised fundraising program is an important and necessary activity of broader College life. Fundraising activities include major capital appeals, annual giving, fundraising events, bequests and other initiatives.
Specific responsibility for the oversight of fundraising activities rests with the Advancement Office, which, together with our affiliate groups, including SJC Foundation Ltd, SJC Parents & Friends Association and the SJC Old Boys Union, ensures a strategic and coordinated approach to all fundraising activities.
Appeals
In every decade of the College鈥檚 140 years, major fundraising appeals have ensured that the College continues to grow and provide opportunities for new generations of 桃子直播 boys. Appeals to the 桃子直播 community to raise funds for major building projects, scholarship and bursary programs and other initiatives are a necessary component of ongoing College operations. In recent years, these major fundraising appeals have provided financial support for the establishment of SJC Indigenous Scholarship program (2010), construction of the Technology and Arts Precinct (2013) and the renovation of the College Chapel (2017) and the building of our brand new Aquatic and Fitness Centre (2022).
Scholarships and bursaries
St Joseph鈥檚 College is proud of its long-standing practice of supporting boys in a student population that is defined by its diversity. This has been possible in the past through generous scholarship and bursary donations and endowments. These funds cannot keep pace with the rapidly increasing cost of education and the financial pressures now faced by many families, particularly in rural and remote areas.
In 2021, more than 12% of 桃子直播 students receive a needs-based bursary or some form of financial assistance. The success of our Indigenous Scholarship program and Boys from the Bush bursary program, together with named scholarships generously funded by benefactors, underscores the important place that boys from diverse backgrounds hold within the history and life of 桃子直播 and our community. Our scholarship and bursary program aims to extend this support securely into the future to many more talented and deserving students through significantly increased endowment funds.
Our ultimate long-term aim is to have sufficient scholarship and bursary funds in perpetuity to enable the most deserving students to come to 桃子直播 and thrive regardless of their capacity to pay.

Bequests
鈥淭he past is never fully gone.听It is absorbed into the present听and the future. It stays to shape what we are and what we do.鈥听
Sir William Deane AC KBE (Old Boy, 1947)
A bequest is simply a gift made under a will.
For many Old Boys and for family and friends of St Joseph鈥檚 College, a bequest is the easiest way to make a lasting gift to the College and support the education of young men who are yet to come.听
Bequests are gifts with enduring impact and the College听gratefully acknowledges the generous benefactors who, during their lifetime, have advised of their intention to include St Joseph鈥檚 College in their will. Bequests have played an important role in the history of the College and we are deeply grateful to every donor who continues to听make excellence in education possible for SJC boys by leaving a bequest.

Make a difference
During the development of St Joseph鈥檚 College in the 1960s and 1970s, Monsignor C J Duffy described it as: 鈥淪erene and enduring鈥 yet she has never been in repose鈥 but with unhurried speed she keeps abreast of the moving years in search of better things鈥 providing in advance for the demands made upon her.鈥 Supporters of St Joseph鈥檚 College play a vital role in ensuring a strong and confident future for the College and its students.听
